GRANT PROGRAM

Komen Affiliate Grant Program

Affiliates of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation fund a variety of community-based breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment projects for the medically under-served. Up to 75 percent of an Affiliate’s net income stays in the local community to fund breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment projects. The remaining net income (a minimum of 25 percent) supports the Komen Foundation Award and Research Grant Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.

In order to ensure the funds make the greatest impact, Komen Affiliates work with local medical experts and community leaders to conduct comprehensive community needs assessments. These community profiles are then used to establish local grant application and review processes consistent with the Foundation's standards and mission. To see the executive summary of the 2006 Komen Northwest Ohio Community Profile, click here. Last year, Komen Affiliates granted more than $47 million to support more than 1,400 community-based education, screening and treatment programs.

Deadline for the 2009-2010 grant cycle is Friday, October 17, 2008. The grant cycle runs from April 1, 2009 - March 31, 2010 and recipients are notified in February 2009. To see current Komen grant announcement, please click here.
